Course Overview:
Theileria orientalis is an emerging pathogen in U.S. cattle herds, primarily transmitted by the invasive Asian longhorned tick. This course features a recorded webinar presented by Rosalie Ierardi, DVM, DACVP, PhD, whose work has focused on the epidemiology of tick-borne disease in Missouri cattle, namely bovine anaplasmosis and Theileria-associated bovine anemia.
Dr. Ierardi discusses tick biology and behavior, transmission of Theileria, clinical signs of infection, diagnostic strategies, and management challenges. The presentation also includes findings from field studies she conducted in Missouri herds.
