Course Overview:
Rabies remains an uncommon but important disease in U.S. livestock, with cases occurring sporadically and often presenting with non-specific or neurologic signs that can be difficult to recognize early. This course features a recorded webinar presented by Dr. Dusty Nagy of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. She reviews rabies epidemiology and transmission in the United States and describes clinical presentation and disease progression in cattle and other livestock, along with practical considerations for diagnosis, prevention, and reporting.
Learning Outcomes:
Individuals who complete this course will be able to:
- Describe rabies epidemiology and reservoirs in the United States.
- Recognize clinical signs and progression of rabies in livestock.
- Explain transmission and pathophysiology of rabies infection.
- Identify prevention strategies and situations where vaccination should be considered.
