Course Overview:
Milk residues and withdrawal in goats are a practical challenge, given the limited number of labeled drugs and the need to avoid violative residues. This course features a recorded webinar presented by Dr. Michael Kleinhenz, dairy health veterinarian at Texas A&M University and a board-certified clinical pharmacologist.

Dr. Kleinhenz reviews how milk residue tolerances and withdrawal times are determined for lactating dairy goats. He also outlines the FDA process for setting limits, the impact of the bulk tank factor on withdrawal recommendations, and differences in drug metabolism compared to other species. Current withdrawal times for flunixin and meloxicam, along with guidance on antimicrobial use in dairy goats, are also discussed.
