After completing the three required badges - Learning Science, Effective Media Design and Technologies for Active, Engaged and Inclusive Programs - you will be automatically awarded the Effective Teaching with Technology badge as evidence you have mastered the required competencies.
Students completing this badge will successfully demonstrate competencies that align with the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning by:
- defining multimedia,
- identifying three core assumptions of multimedia learning theory,
- identifying three types of cognitive processing/load,
- providing instructional design strategies for each of the three types of cognitive load, and
- describing Mayer's dual channel theory.
- Recognizing instructional design principle violations
- Revising examples of media that violate Mayer's 12 principles of instructional design
- Applying design principles to multiple media formats (PowerPoint and videos)
