Course Overview:
Prepare for the nationally recognized Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential—the most widely accepted certification in early childhood education. Whether you’re new to the field or looking to advance, this program helps you build essential skills, boost your confidence, and meet job qualifications.
 
This course equips teachers, parents, and other childcare professionals with the knowledge and resources needed to observe and record children's behavior in an objective manner. Participants will learn methods to evaluate developmental milestones, address developmental delays, and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) as well as other intervention strategies that meet the needs of developing children.  

 
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Develop an understanding of objective observation and recording of children’s behavior in context of development
  • Learn to use tools for the observation and assessment of developmental milestones and delays 
  • Learn about curriculum planning and individual teaching plans  
  • Recognize the role of (or apply) assessment methods in planning curriculum to meet individual needs of children? (CDA FA [Functional Area] 5, 12) 
  • Apply intervention strategies for addressing delays in development (CDA FA 4, 12) 
  • Create, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs
