Course Overview:
Prepare for the nationally recognized Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential—the most widely accepted certification in early childhood education. Whether you’re new to the field or looking to advance, this program helps you build essential skills, boost your confidence, and meet job qualifications.
 
This course introduces new early childhood educators to the core responsibilities and expectations of the profession. You will explore how the care, development, and well-being of children and families fit into an interconnected system of homes, child-care programs, and community supports that together shape children’s growth.

 
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Illustrate early childhood as an interconnected system comprised of interdependent elements.(FA 13) 
  • Describe the commitment to quality, consistency, and continuity of care in the routines and procedures in an early childhood classroom and program. (FA 13) 
  • Summarize the role and expectations of early childhood professionals in this interdependent system. (FA 13) 
  • Summarize the responsibilities of the early childhood professional in protecting the safety and well-being of children and families.(FA 1,2) 
  • Differentiate basic standards of quality (best practice) and regulations in early childhood. (FA 13)
