This course is offered as part of the noncredit Certificate in Public Management offered by the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs.
 
Course Overview:
This course will help illustrate social entrepreneurship in a broad sense and understand how it differs from entrepreneurship as understood in the private sector, social innovation. Students will learn about identifying social needs and recognizing social opportunities, ethics and other considerations around social entrepreneurship, strategic planning, measuring social impact, and scaling up social entrepreneurship. 

 
Learning Outcomes:
Students will:
  • Develop an understanding of the nature and purpose of various social entrepreneurship approaches
  • Identify, interpret and examine real world examples of social entrepreneurship
  • Develop, Create, Analyze & Translate decision tools, analysis & communications skills to inform & influence social entrepreneurship approaches and day-to-day management.
